Full Arch Dental Implants - Spring Hill, TN

April's Story

Hi, my name is April and the dental procedure I had done here at Dr. Robinette is a full arch implant. Prior to coming here, I didn’t have any back teeth at all. All my back teeth had previously been pulled out so chewing was an issue, was a big problem for me since I don’t have any back teeth to chew. I dealt with it for a long time. It would just be tooth after tooth had to be pulled out. My gums were soft so it was very painful for me. So when I came here to Dr. Robinette’s office, we decided that doing the full implant across the top, which is be the most beneficial to me, because all of my gums were very sore. So it was painful to floss or do anything of that nature to even be able to keep up with my teeth as it was. So, when I came here we decided that was going to be the best move for me.

Dr. Richard Robinette:

April came to me as a new patient. She came through dental marketing. She had just moved here from Pennsylvania. She had been to Aspen Dental in Pennsylvania and they encouraged her to go the all on four. And I asked her do you want to try to fix the teeth, do you want to get braces, you want to try to do with veneers, you want crown? And she said she didn’t want to go that way. And the last thing that she wanted on the face of the Earth was a denture. So she’s interested and the all-in X. Well, I told her I didn’t believe in all on four because all on four means none on three. I say you as the patient, you care about your restoration. You don’t care how many implants I put in. I said, so what we do is we have a global fee and we will put in the number of implants we think that you need. You don’t have to worry about the implants, we’ll take care of that, and then we’re going to create you a new smile.

April:

I had some anxiety and some fear in regards to some of the things that had to happen in order for the procedure to be done. So I had to have a sinus lift, and I had to have bone grafting done. And I was very fearful of having that sinus lift. And so after talking to Dr. Robinette, he explained everything to me, made me feel very comfortable. And at that point in time, I decided that I was ready to proceed.

Dr. Richard Robinette:

What we did, we place the implants and we put her into a temporary restoration. So after it was time to permanently restore, what we did is then we got her a new restoration to see if she liked that. She liked the second restoration. We had it converted into [inaudible] and we inserted it and we gave her a mirror. I mean you thought we had a new person sitting in front of us. Once we gave her new restoration, April is all smiles.

April:

The look I was going for was to get rid of the bone lost look which made me look and you know feel older. So with having the full look, I feel like I look more young and my face looks more proportions. Now, it’s exciting when I felt the first ones in because they were so much different than having the temporaries in. They were so much whiter, you get to pick what color you want. So there’s different shades, whatever color you decide you want to go with. And just seeing them for the first time being so bright and white and you know a full set, all straight was just mind-blowing to me. I’d like to thank everybody here at Dentistry by Design. I think they’ve done a great job.

Levita's Story

My story is probably that I never had the most up-to-date dental care. I can really not say anything negative against my dentist at all. It’s just we were in a setting where if you had a tooth filled, you had your tooth filled and you went on. If you broke a tooth, you know, if you got it capped, that was great. But if you didn’t, you went on. When I did see Dr. Robinette, that’s when he said, “Well, you could probably use this. You probably would be better served with an implant. Did you know that with the way your teeth are right now, your bone mass is dissolving because there’s nothing to keep it, you know, around the other, the other teeth?” So, there are just really a lot of things I simply did not know that I should be taking care of.

Dr. Richard Robinette:

Levita came to me because she is the wife of my high school football coach. She came because I had placed some dental implants on her husband, and now, she had some missing teeth. So the first thing we did was to take out the teeth to socket preservation grafts and put three dental implants on the lower right side. We’re friends, and we’re just sitting around talking one day, and she said, “Well, I’ve got this bridge in the front that the dentist in Louisville put in.” She goes, “I’ve never liked this bridge.” She goes, “Can you do something about it?” I said, “Yes, we can make your whole front top look a whole lot better, but I can’t just replace the bridge. You have to let me, at least, go back to the canines.” So with Levita, we came in and we created a new smile.

Levita:

I’m going to say he worked magic. And the reason I say that is because… And I’m not sure which tooth it was, I think it was one of the incisors — was never in my mouth. Even when I had like my teeth before I broke them. My permanent teeth had just come in. Even when I smiled, I didn’t have that even smile because I didn’t have two front teeth, two incisors. A broken tooth and a front tooth and incisor, and this incisor just never came in. So when he did this work, he put the other tooth in. So now, it looks symmetrical, when it never did before.

Dr. Richard Robinette:

Levita is a retired school teacher, retired counselor, and she would call me up all the time, in the beginning, saying, “So-and-so just recognize my smile.” She goes, “You don’t know how happy that makes me.” I mean you talked about the change in somebody’s self-esteem and changing their personality. These were probably the biggest changes I’ve ever seen in my whole career.

Levita:

I am one of those people that if I know what’s going to happen, I can deal with it a lot better. So like, on the implant, the steps on doing that, you know, getting that completed from beginning to end and all the commercials you hear where people can do it in one day. And after having it done correctly, that’s not something you want to be done in one day if you want it to last. So I just have felt very comfortable and confident in every step that goes by. If somebody were to give me a sheet of paper and say, “Check the things that need improving,” I couldn’t check anything that needs improving. It’s just, it’s just a good experience from beginning to end.

Charlie's Story

Hi, my name is Charlie. I have had crowns and veneers here at Dentistry by Design. Growing up as a child, I was a tetracycline victim. My siblings, I was the oldest out of five. They had nice white teeth, but mine was a little colored been to another dentist to see if I could get that work done. And he said I wasn’t a candidate so that about a year and a half I saw this place and I came in here and I told him that I had been to another dentist. He said I wasn’t a candidate but he said you are.

Dr. Richard Robinette:

When Charlie first presented to us for dental treatment, his teeth were dark in color. He had a lot of erosion, it looked like he may be even sucking on lemons or some kind of fruit. And he said this wasn’t true, but it looked like it was an erosion. His teeth were also heavy worn[?]. He’s a self-employed man, he had flattened all his teeth down. Basically nubs[?] that were all dark color in color.

Charlie:

Dr. Robinette told me that I was a candidate and that he could take care of the issue and it was my buy and he told me that he could adjust my jaw and he did. And so we went from there.

Dr. Richard Robinette:

He was looking at a new start and what we originally did was we built him up in two-color filling material to see how he would function with that because he had worn his bite down so bad. We wanted to see if we put him in the tooth-colored filling material, would he be breaking the new teeth. He actually wore the tooth-colored fillings for several years we did the upper front six anterior teeth in about 2013 and then we did the lower six anterior teeth this year. We, as dentists went to take care of what needed to be done first. So, I always tell the patient I want to keep you out of pain. Okay, I want to keep you from getting into worse shape, you as the patient, what you want to do, is you want to take care of your smile first because that’s what you see. So, with Charlie, he didn’t have any issues that would get them in trouble. So we started with his front 12 teeth.

Charlie:

Since the work’s been done I’ve been very blessed and happy for the results and feel like that I can be myself and smile when I need to smile and sometimes smile when I don’t need to smile, but I feel comfortable in smiling and it’s just made me feel so much better. My self-esteem has risen and I feel more confident with business, with friendships, and all kinds of different relationships now.
