A healthy smile is a beautiful smile. Not only does good oral health translate to good overall health, but a beautiful smile can boost one’s self esteem and self confidence. At Dentistry by Design, we offer a number of cosmetic dentistry services that have you looking and feeling your best.
Our practice offers home whitening services. For home whitening, Dr. Robinette will provide you with a custom fitted mouth guard that will keep the provided whitening solution in place. Unlike over-the-counter whitening solutions, the custom fitted mouth guard provided will protect your gums from irritation that normally occurs from ill-fitted pieces. After the solution is placed within the mouth guard, it is placed on the night guard and left on the teeth for a few hours or overnight.
Single visit whitening utilizes a special light that imparts a higher concentration of whitening solution onto the patient’s teeth, resulting in faster, more dramatic tooth whitening results. Throughout the hourlong procedure, our knowledgeable staff carefully protects your mouth. In just one visit, you can dramatically improve the brightness of your smile, making you look years younger.
The ZOOM Whitening System is a well-known whitening technique and has been featured in countless publications and television shows. Dentistry by Design offers ZOOM Whitening services to their patients. This system sets itself apart in its results, as it can lighten up a patient’s smile up to an average of nine shades in an hour. ZOOM whitening is suitable for most patients -- even those who have severe staining on their teeth.
Bonding is a cosmetic procedure that effectively changes the color and shape of a tooth, helping it fit seamlessly with the rest of the mouth. This procedure is simple, lost-cost and is ideal for those with cracked, broken, or misshapen teeth. The composite material used for the bonding can be polished to perfectly match the surrounding teeth.
Dental technology has advanced to the point where silver fillings are no longer necessary. Instead, composite fillings can be used to make the filling appear almost as natural as your regular teeth. These composite fillings are designed to match your tooth color and are bonded to your teeth, making it less likely to fall out. These are also used to replace older fillings made of silver or gold. Composite fillings have a more natural, pleasing aesthetic appearance and can be completed in just one visit. Tooth colored fillings are 90% as strong and healthy as natural tooth material and are less likely to crack than silver or gold fillings.
Veneers are thin layers of porcelain that are custom-made for each patient and are used to change the strength, color, shape, texture, and length of a tooth in the mouth, ultimately helping the patient to get the perfect smile of their dreams. Veneers are ideal for patients with missing or broken teeth due to injury or decay, or teeth that are cracked, worn or discolored. Veneers are as thick as a contact lens and require very little preparation, as they are attached to the teeth using bonding glue or cement. Once bonded to the patient’s teeth, they become strong. This fast and conservative process is often recommended in tandem with other cosmetic procedures in order to produce optimal results.
If you have cracked, chipped or missing teeth due to injury, decay or otherwise, crowns can provide a reliable and aesthetically pleasing solution. Crowns restore the shape and size of a tooth. This also works for large fillings from root canal therapy, as the tooth tends to become brittle and likely to fracture. Crowns can help strengthen and protect the remaining tooth structure and improve the appearance of your teeth.
Porcelain crowns are the most common type of crown. These crowns look like real teeth. Porcelain is harder than enamel and may cause excessive wear of the enamel of opposing teeth. They also may break with extreme biting forces.
Gold crowns are made using dental gold, which is 60% gold alloy, made to match the hardness of the enamel of opposing teeth. Gold does not tarnish or corrode, and has bacteria inhibiting qualities. Gold crowns are durable and not prone to cracking. However, gold crowns are typically noticeable and are therefore not often used unless for lower back molars.
Dentures are a great option for patients who are missing part or all of their teeth. Partial dentures are used for patients who still retain some of their natural teeth and full dentures provide full coverage for those who have lost majority of their teeth. Dentures don’t only restore the look of a smile, but they can help patients to speak and eat more easily and naturally. Dentistry by Design offers a number of denture placement options for our patients, such as partial dentures, cutter bar dentures, flexible partial dentures, precision partials, immediate dentures, over dentures, full arch dentures, snap in dentures, and temporary partials. Severe cavities can cause excessive damage and trauma to the tooth to the point where the infection reaches the nerve. This often results in an abscess and can lead to further health complications and severe pain if not treated immediately. At this point, it is urgent to see your dentist for endodontic (root canal) treatment.
The skilled staff at Dentistry by Design understand the importance of treating root canals swiftly, with care and precision. During this procedure, your dentist will clean out the infected canal and will seal it with either a temporary sealant or a crown. You may have to schedule a subsequent visit in order to secure a dental crown for future protection.
Dental implants are ideal for patients that are missing teeth due to dental decay or extractions, as they provide an excellent restoration option. Dental implants are metal posts or frames that are surgically inserted into the bone beneath the patient’s gums. In order for the patient to be eligible to receive the procedure, they must have sufficient bone structure to support the posts.
After the posts have been inserted into the bone, they are then fused to the jawbone. Once this is done, Dr. Robinette mount the teeth onto the posts, improving your smile instantly. In some cases, this procedure can be done in just one visit.
If you are interested in dental implants, contact Dentistry by Design today to see if they are right for you.

According to the American Academy of Periodontology, 50% of Americans suffer from some form of gum disease, spanning from mild cases of gingivitis to more severe cases of periodontitis. As we age, we become more prone to gum disease, as our teeth wear down, become more sensitive and our gums naturally recede. If gum disease is untreated, it can ultimately lead to periodontitis. For this reason, it is extremely important to stay diligent when it comes to oral health. At Dentistry by Design, we take periodontics seriously and offer a number of periodontic dental treatments, including:
When teeth are lost or missing, bridges are often a common and viable solution to fixing the area. A bonded bridge is considered the most conservative approach, and involved attaching an a pontic made from a tooth impression to either side of surrounding teeth for support. These are often cemented to the backside of adjoining teeth, helping your smile to look completely, healthy and natural. These are also fixed bridges, which are used to replace a single tooth.
For many, trips to the dentist are an uncomfortable and fearful event. At Dentistry by Design, we aim to make each and every patient’s experience a calming and pleasant one. One method that is commonly employed is sedation dentistry. Sedation dentistry takes all of the fear out of dentistry. Dr. Robinette is able to put you into a relaxed state, providing all of your treatment in one visit without discomfort or pain. Through injection or intravenous methods or general anaesthesia, patients are able to enter a deep sleep, where they can continue their procedure without feeling any pain or discomfort. Nitrous oxide sedation, also known as laughing gas, is the most often form of sedation dentistry used. It is administered by placing a small mask over the patient’s nose. As the gas begins to work, the patient becomes calm but is still awake and can communicate. If you have unease or discomfort about your next dental visit, talk to Dr. Robinette and his compassionate team to find the right kind of sedation treatment for you.
Sleep apnea is a serious condition caused by the blockage or constriction of the upper airway, due to factors such as an enlarged tongue. When this obstruction stops air from flowing through your airways, it is called Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA). This common disorder can quickly develop into a more serious respiratory condition, causing serious cardiovascular problems. During OSA, a person can experience hundreds of breathing disruptions over the course of one night’s sleep. Symptoms of OSA include loud snoring, waking up frequently during sleep, feeling tired or falling asleep during the day, or being 30+ pounds overweight.
If you are having difficulty getting a good night’s rest due to sleep apnea, Dr. Robinette and his staff at Dentistry by Design can help you. Dr. Robinette works with sleep apnea patients in Spring Hill, working to mitigate and relieve symptoms and help you get the night’s rest you deserve.
